We have a special holiday program on tap for tonight. Join host Larry Jordan and co-host Mike Horton as they talk with:
Alexis Van Hurkman, Colorist
We spoke with Alexis Van Hurkman, colorist and author, last week about how to setup and equip a color grading suite. This week, we continue our conversation with Alexis with a look at what software to use and how to use it effectively.
- – - A LOOK BACK AT 2010 – - -
As we wrap up another year, it seems appropriate to gather the entire gang around the electronic campfire and take a look back to try to figure out what the heck happened to the last year. The deals, the announcements, the products that made it (and those that didn’t), and all the legal scuffling.
Kick back, relax, and listen in as our gang waxes poetic (or, ah, pontificates portentously). Whatever — you’re gonna have fun listening!
Jonathan Handel, Entertainment Labor Reporter, Hollywood Reporter
Jonathan Handel, entertainment labor reporter for the Hollywood Reporter, covers the legal, union, and labor issues in Hollywood for The Buzz. He looks back on all the strikes, near-strikes, and non-strikes of the past year and tries to figure out who got a hit, and who struck out. One thing we especially what to learn more about is whether, after all the brouhaha surrounding the Screen Actors Guild, whether they came out ahead or behind as this year ends.
Philip Hodgetts, CEO, Intelligent Assistance
Nobody knows technology like Philip Hodgetts, president of Intelligent Assistance. Whether we are talking about codecs (Mike’s personal favorite subject), hot new products, or even products that aren’t even released, Philip takes a look back at 2010 to analyze the hits and the misses. From new cameras, to new software, and lots of interesting releases in-between, one thing Phillip is really good at is explaining how all this stuff fits together, or fall apart.
Bruce Nazarian, The Digital Guy
Bruce Nazarian, the Digital Guy, has his feet in two camps: optical media and music. This week, we asked him to define the highlights of the past year from his perspective and, then, set them to music. Well, OK, maybe we won’t ask him to sing, but after all the noise Blu-ray was making at the beginning of the year, it sure has gone quiet just a few months later. What new trends should we be keeping our eyes on?
Debbie Price, Digital Production Buzz
Debbie Price, event manager for the Digital Production Buzz, is one of the unsung folks behind-the-scenes that makes everything work. She’s been one of the driving forces, along with Laura Peters, behind the Buzz Shout-out, so we invited her on to bring us up-to-date on skyrocketing success of this program. Along with some stats on how the Shout-out! is doing so far, she will also have tips you can use to create your own entry for us to play on The Buzz! Showcase your best work, on the Buzz Shout-Out!
Jessica Sitomer, President, The Greenlight Coach
Jessica Sitomer, president of The Greenlight Coach, is another great person to have on your team. She’s been with us all this year with tips and suggestions on how to find and keep work. She joins us this week with more job-hunting tips and a report card on what she’s learned by watching the Buzz Shout-out. We are also interested in figuring out what were the most successful ways to find work this past year.
Michael Horton, Head Cutter, Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group
Michael Horton, president of the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group, runs one of the largest user groups in the country, along with co-hosting The Buzz. We want to talk with him about his views of the last year from the point of view of everyone that’s actually using all this stuff. (We were going to ask him to sing, but, frankly, we all need a bit more egg nog before we’re ready for that!) Still, The Buzz wouldn’t be the show it is without Mike, and we are grateful!
It’s gonna be a great time, with old and new friends. Make a point to join us!
You can’t find people or interviews like this anywhere else! It’s another fascinating show.
