The BuZZ is LIVE at GV Expo with interviews with key vendors discussing the latest in technology.

Dec 6th, 2008

Join host Larry Jordan for the third in our three-part series of reports live from the floor of the Government Video Technology Expo in Washington, DC.

Rob Sheeley - President - Vaddio. Vaddio makes remote control camera equipment. When you need to put a camera where a person can't go, because it is too small or too dangerous, Vaddio has the answer. Discover how these new camera controls are changing how we cover everything from church services to newscasts.

Tom Burns, Sales Director, VieVu. VieVu makes a camera you can attached to the vest of a police officer, or the hat of a snowboard enthusiast, to get images you can't get any other way. As a police officer, Tom knows that capturing a suspect is only part of the role of a police officer --- an even larger part is convincing a jury. This camera can help.

Debbie Sweany, Sales Manager, WhisperRoom. You have two choices when it comes time to make your recording environment quieter -- you can either put your talent into a quiet room, or you can put your equipment in a quiet box. WhisperRoom makes quiet rooms.

David Marin, Sales Manager, Noren Products. ... And Noren makes boxes that make equipmente quieter. In this interview you'll learn which to pick -- the room or the box.

Matt Alheim, Manager Business Development, Bexel Broadcast Services. Bexel provides rental production gear around the world - from the Olympics to local productions. In this interview, Matt discusses what producers need to know to pick the right gear the first time.

Greg Echols, Director of Marketing and Business Development, CEI. If you can't rent it, build it. And CEI builds production facilities for the Library of Congress, broadcast networks, and individual production companies. Here, Greg talks about what you need to know to successfully build your own facility.

Justin Macedonia, President, Video Caption Corp. Need subtitles, closed captions, or transcriptions? The Video Caption Corporation can help -- discover how in this interview.

Mark Pescatore, Executive Conference Chair, GV Expo. We manage to tear Mark away from making announcements to the trade show floor, and running the conference, and solving exhibitor disputes, and planning the next issue of Government Video magazine, and ..., well, you get the idea. He's one busy guy. But he slows down long enough to share the products that made Best of Show awards at this year's event.

It's a huge round-up of everything you need to know to stay current with the latest in technology. All on the Digital Production BuZZ!

Dec 5th, 2008

Join host Larry Jordan for the second in a series of in-depth reports live from the floor of the Government Video Technology Expo in Washington, DC.

Darren Fordham, Director of Business Development, Wohler. Wohler makes in-rack audio and video monitoring. Recently, they've decided to take their show on the road - so they created a demo truck with all their gear - take a listen as we discover what it is they do.

Hossein ZiaShakeri, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Alliances, SpectraLogic. Spectralogic makes archiving and storage hardware. In this interview, learn the life-span of magnetic tape, how an archiving solution for tapeless media does not necessarily break the bank, and learn more about what software you need to manage your assets.

Sam Bogoch, Director, Infrastructure Solutions, Avid Technology. Avid has embarked on a path of New Thinking. Part of that is emphasizing "team editing," where groups of editors work together on the same project. Sam Bogoch is responsible for all of Avid's networking products, here he describes what they do, their limitations, and a new announcement coming Dec. 10.

David Wilkins, President & CEO, X2O Media. X2O Media does digital signage - from installing the technology to content creation and managed services. Think of digital signage as creating your own TV network - whether for in-house use, across a city, or around the world.

Richard Threadgill, Manager, ProAV Enterprise Distribution & Signage, Thomson Grass Valley. Thomson Grass Valley has been in broadcast since forever, but they also have a corporate and small enterprise side. Richard talks more about digital signage (one of the real hot buttons at GV Expo), products for corporate and worship productions, and some new, low-cost, high-performance video switchers.

Andrew Evans, Systems Design Engineer, Extron Electronics. Extron was founded to connect computers with video projectors. Now, they do it where the computers and projectors are not necessarily in the same city! However, the REAL challenge in the exploding resolution of high-def video. As resolutions rise through the roof, they will quickly exceed the capacity of fiber optic networks to carry the signal. Take a listen and learn more.

Vince Graziani, Chief Executive Officer, VBrick. VBrick does video streaming, within the corporate or around the world. What is neat about their products is that you can borrow them for your own productions. And, with VBrick, you can make your streamed presentations as secure as you need.

Eric Druker, Eastern Sales Manager, Lowel Lighting. The lighting industry is rapidly moving away from incandescent bulbs to fluorescent and LED illumination -- both to reduce heat and improve flexibility. In this discussion, Eric discusses Lowel's "Blender," which won Best of Show, a new product which allows you to "tune" the color of your light without filters or gels.

Join host Larry Jordan for the first in a series of in-depth reports live from the floor of the Government Video Technology Expo in Washington, DC.

Mark Pescatore, executive conference chair, GV Expo. Mark joins host Larry Jordan for a quick "first-look" at the show and an interesting report on the keynote speech by an FCC Commissioner saying that the US is not yet ready for the digital transition!

Mark Brooks, Director of Sales, SnapStream Media. SnapStream says they can record and search everything on TV, and put it all at your fingertips. Listen as Mark explains how.

Jeffrey Paul, Co-founder and VP of Sales & Alliances, VeoTag. VeoTag has another way of creating searchable video - this time, using what they call a "Table of Contents." Compare the differences in approach between SnapStream and VeoTag.

Brian Campanotti, Chief Technology Officer, Front Porch Digital. Front Porch Digital lives between the media stored on your hard disks, and the permanent archives of your media, generally stored on magnetic tape. In this discussion, we learn the purpose of "middleware" and how to put it to work protecting your projects.

Charlie Collias, Director of Sales, Zylight. Zylight makes an exciting new light illuminated, not by a bulb, but by a grid of RGB LEDs. This new technology means that we are no longer locked into the color temperature of the bulb, but can adjust it to whatever color we want, instantly, and without any filters or gels.

Brian Towey, Regional Sales Manager, Microboards Technology. Microboards makes CD, DVD, and Blu-ray Disc duplicating equipment. But what makes this conversation truly exciting is Brian's extended commentary on reliability and the selection of the right media.

Jim Jachetta, Sr. Vice President of Engineering, MultiDyne Video and Fibre Optic Systems. Moving video around within one computer is getting easier every day. However, moving video between computers, or between computers and screens, or digital projectors is getting more and more demanding. Discover the challenges of moving up to extremely high-def and what that means for your network in this conversation.

Gary Steven, Regional Sales Manager, and Eric Goodmurphy, RossGear Marketing Product Manager, for Ross Video. Ross Video makes production switchers for live events. Here, Gary and Eric discuss switchers, where they are used, and how to pick one for your needs.
