William Henshall - Photographer/Videography

Will Henshall is a Los Angeles, California based professional photographer and will be talking with us about the convergence of digital still imaging and digital video imaging.

He has postulated among his friends that in the future, photography that illustrates stories such as event and news photography will default to HD motion video capture with stills grabbed from the video stream, leaving portraiture, architectural  and product shots as the main territory for traditional digital still photography.

Will is a bit of a renaissance man, having had 3 totally separate careers.:

In his first career he was an internationally successful musician, songwriter and record producer, working under the stage name "Willy M" in the UK based band Londonbeat, see  http://www.willym.com for more info.

"Londonbeat was a pop soul band I founded back in 1987. The song that most folk will know is" I've Been Thinking About You" which hit the #1 slot in 26 countries in the early 90s. It was the BMI PRS song of the year in 1992 and is on the way to having had 3 million plays on US radio in 2007. There were about 10 other hit singles such as "Better Love" and "Come Back" and 4 albums during the band's lifetime. We were signed to Eurythmic Dave Stewart's label Anxious/RCA records everywhere except the US where we were signed to RadioActive/MCA”

Next he moved to San Francisco in the late 90s to found Rocket Network, a high tech company that created DigiDelivery, which has become the de facto standard way of shipping large media production files around via the Internet in the audio recording industry. He sold the company to Avid/Digidesign in 2003. Check out the DigiDesign website for more info.

And thirdly, since 2003 he has been paying his rent following his first love, photography. His professional work ranges from wedding and corporate event shoots to advertising, editorial and private commission portraits. His style has been described as contemporary with a glamour edge.
