What's the BuZZ?
Max Segal - Founder, HBO Archives
Last week, Max Segal stopped by to tell us of HBO's release of The March of Time documentaries produced from about 1930 to 1970. Shot on 35 mm film, each of these 18 - 20 minute programs more resembled the 60 Minutes of its day, rather than the breathless newsreels of Hollywood. We were so fascinated by what Max had to say, that we've invited him back this week to discuss the whole process of restoration. What did they do to make their images look so good? And what can producers do to gain access to some of this footage for their own productions?
The BuZZ Beat
System BuZZ -- Jon Bach, CEO, Puget Systems
-
Puget Systems builds custom computer gear to meet the very specific needs of their customers. In this world of mass produced everything, we want to learn why there's a need for the products Puget Systems creates. So, we asked Jon Bach to swing by to explain this to us.
Stacey Parks - CEO, Film Specific, Inc.
Stacey's BACK!!! Yes, we tracked Stacey Parks down, after her trip to Cannes then visiting all the capitols of Europe. And we just have one question: WHERE'S THE MONEY? Um, sorry, got a bit carried away there. Ah, we want to launch an in-depth discussion of the profit-potential currently available to independent producers in distribution. We also want to spend time talking about all the other distribution options - theatrical release may make you famous, but it won't make you rich. We'll find out what does.
