What's the BuZZ?

Jim Tierney - President, Digital Anarchy

Plug-in manufacturers are rushing to update their products to support the latest version of Adobe software - CS5. Jim Tierney, president of Digital Anarchy, joins us this week to discuss the process of creating an upgrade and what the benefits of the new software is to editors. Jim recently released new versions of Beauty Box, which is some fascinating retouching software, that can help us understand how the tools we use every day get created.

The BuZZ Beat

Mike Flanagan, CEO, Video Symphony

Mike Flanagan, president of Video Symphony, runs one of the largest Avid training centers for film and video editors in the United States. He's also recently completed writing a book on getting a job in Hollywood. The reason we invited him on the show, however, is that he is an avid believer (OK, we couldn't resist) in the power of social media. This week, we discuss how Facebook and Linked In and the rest of the lot can help you get your next gig.

Tom Tomchak - President, Edit Creations

Tom Tomchak, President of Edit Creations and a video editor, recently posted a very interesting blog entitled "Adding New Services in a Shrinking Economy." As Tom wrote: "What happens when there's not enough post work to keep the rooms busy? Aside from the obvious solution of trying to increase the client base, there is also the option of adding other services so that you get a bigger piece of the overall project pie." We were intrigued, so we invited him on this week to share his ideas!

Philip Hodgetts - CEO, Intelligent Assistance

Philip Hodgetts, CEO of Intelligent Assistance, has been a regular on The Buzz since it was called the DV Guys; a long, long time. We are glad to welcome him back for another visit to bring us up to speed on what technology we should be keeping our eyes on today.
