ProMax Closes Doors
May 7th, 2008
Founded in 1994 by Charles McConathy, Promax Systems became a recognized leader in custom configured, reliable high performance video editing and storage systems.
According to Dan Hatch, president of Promax, "“I tried everything. New business models, everything. The fact is, doing business in a State like California with its high cost of living, high business taxes, sky rocketing healthcare and insurance costs, and in an industry with wafer thin margins just did us in. I feel for my employees more than myself, but we tried all we could do and ultimately there was nothing left for us to do. The economy as it exists now didn’t help much either. I just don’t see it changing soon. I had to make a decision. Yes, it’s a sad time right now. Hurts more than you can imagine.”
Promax has been a consistent and reliable sponsor of Final Cut User Groups, the Digital Production BuZZ, and the general FCP community for years. They will be greatly missed.
