Flash as a Video Post Tool

Chapter: Motion Graphic Design

Topic: Software and Tools

Video designers roll their eyes because many of these designs could have been executed easily by assistants with standard desktop video tools. Every tool on the market can be used to create bad design, but often, and especially when professionals are scrutinizing new production methods, the tool is blamed. Flash has fallen victim to such bad-mouthing. Among video motion graphics artists, it’s fashionable to show disdain for Flash and call it primitive. That’s far from the truth. Flash is a very sophisticated motion graphics tool. Although it lacks the robust toolset of Adobe After Effects and the like for video work, desktop video artists will be impressed with what it can do quickly and efficiently.
