Digital Anarchy Geomancy: Running Circles using Geomancy's GridSquare Filter from Digital Anarchy

Chapter: Motion Graphic Design

Topic: Backgrounds and Stock Footage

Gridsquares is probably the best of the Geomancy filters to start off with. It’s the most like a traditional particle system, and in fact, the only real difference is the use of the grid to control how the particles behave. In this tutorial, Jim Tierney explains the different parameters and helps take the ‘fear’ out of working with particle systems. You’ll need Digital Anarchy’s Geomancy filter for this. If you don’t have it download the demo.

Interest – The Key to Great Mixes: Part 2 from "The Mixing Engineer?s Handbook"

Chapter: Audio

Topic: Mixing and Balancing

Although having control of the other five elements of a mix (balance, frequency range, panorama, dimension, and dynamics) may be sufficient for many types of audio jobs and might be just fine to get a decent mix, most popular music requires a mix that can take it to another level. Although it?s always easier with great tracks, solid arrangements and spectacular playing, a great mix can take simply OK tracks and transform them into hit material so compelling that people can?t get enough of it. It?s been done on some of your all-time favorite songs.

Trapcode Shine: Shine Video Wall

Chapter: Visual and Creative Effects

Topic: Glows, Blurs, Rays or Streaks

In this tutorial, Jayse will show you how to use some of the cool new 3D features of After Effects 5 as well as using the new plug-in called Shine to liven up the scene. This particular look was, believe it or not, somewhat distantly inspired by the Death Star scenes in Star Wars. I know what you’re saying, “How typical!”, but I really love the idea of starting far away from something and then flying, or falling into it as it becomes a bigger picture. The movie “The Matrix”; uses these kind of transitions to great effect. I was also inspired by “Shine” — the plug-in, not the movie. After seeing some of the effects it could achieve, I decided to put it to use in this show opener.
