Sony Acid Pro: Time-Stretching Loops in ACID Pro 6: Making the rhythm section play double time while the overall tempo stays the same

Chapter: Music

Topic: Loops

In this tutorial, the time-stretching capabilities of Sony’s ACID Pro 6 will be used to dramatically alter how several ACIDized loops behave in a song. Two loops will be made to play in double time, and one loop will play in half time, all without changing the song’s overall tempo.

Adobe Illustrator: Adobe Illustrator Quick Tip – Radial Gradients: Conforming gradients to the edges of an oval

Chapter: Paint, Draw and Design

Topic: Design Techniques

In Illustrator CS2, standard radial gradient fills won’t automatically follow the edges of an object. They’ll generally be circular and clipped by the bounding box of the object, rather than conformed to the object itself. However, with oval-shaped objects, there’s a little trick to get the gradient to follow the edges of the object, rather than appearing completely circular and clipped by the bounding box.

Adobe After Effects: A line chart script for After Effects

Chapter: Compositing Tools and Techniques

Topic: Scripting or Expressions

This script for generating line charts in After Effects is a little rough around the edges, but I wanted to get it out there so I can get some feedback and feature requests from readers. The script works nicely for data with a linear relationship, but no attempt is made to fit data that would be better represented by a log scale.

Apple Knowledge Base Articles June 27th

Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 resolves an issue with imported footage using the Import Panasonic P2 feature and 720p/24PN footage that can result in duplicate frames in rendered sequences.

The issue has been resolved for media imported directly into Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 but can still occur in Final Cut Pro 5.1.1 if the project contains 720p/24pn P2 media that was imported using an earlier version of Final Cut Pro 5.

The Knowledge Base article outlines two solutions: re-importing if the media is still available, or by using a batch export and importing the exported files.
