In line with the predictions from Creative Planet’s Digital Production BuZZ podcast last Thursday night, there is a new version of Final Cut Pro coming. Mike Curtis, normally from the HDforIndies.com blog but at NAB on the RED stand reports that there is a new version of Final Cut Pro, 5.1.2  that has all the features we predicted during the live show last Thursday night:

  • Support for 35 Mbit/sec XDCAM (and 18 Mbit/sec XDCAM);
  • 24P HDV support for GY-HD1 cameras from JVC;
  • 24F HDV support from Canon’s XL-H1 and presumably the XH A1 and XH G1 models recently announced; and (not predicted)
  • Improved P2 import with batch capture and preview before import featuring the ability to set ins and outs for each shot.

The new version is expected to ship in about a month. More information when the Apple event is held later on Saturday Amsterdam time.
