There are several amazing title tool packages that allow you to create graphical scenes with complex motion. One of those programs is Avid Technology’s Marquee. Avid Marquee ships as a plug-in with the Avid Media Composer software. Marquee allows you to add 3D extrusion parameters to a title, or individual characters. However, it has one major limitation. It cannot import vector based artwork. This means you are not able to add 3D extrusion to graphic elements. The work around is to convert a graphic into a font! For example, you could map a single ‘font-set’ with each character representing a different graphical element.

In Premiere Pro CS4 Essential Training, Antony Bolante provides a step-by-step, hands-on demonstration of a typical video editing workflow, from import to export. After creating a project and discussing how to configure settings based on editing goals, he shows how to gather and organize assets, including video files, layered Photoshop and Illustrator files, and footage captured from tape. In this clip, Lynda.com host Antony Bolante discusses how to use the batch capture feature in Premiere Pro CS4. He details how when logging clips the files are still not captured, and how you can use the batch capture command to capture the entire group of logged clips, or selecting just those clips that you think you will use.

Digidesign released an update for its market leading digital audio workstation, Pro Tools 8. The update addresses problems in several areas including editing, plug-in automation and the user interface.
The user interface fix is a welcome one for users of Pro Tools 8. The interface bug affected users inserting third-party plug-ins into a channel strip. Once closed and then re-opened, the mouse would not navigate the interface as expected. There was an offset present that made the plug-ins almost impossible to use effectively.
A problem was fixed that caused Pro Tools to crash and delete regions when a sessions start time had changed.
Plug-in automation caused a couple of problems for Pro Tools 8. The application would crash when moving an automated plug-in from Inserts F-J to Inserts A-E. Another automation bug that caused the automation to be overwritten for all other plug-ins when writing automation to a plug-in on Insert F-J.
