Apple Compressor: Aperture changes in Compressor 3.5

Chapter: Distribution

Topic: Encoding Software

Have you noticed that movies compressed with Compressor 3.5 have a slightly different frame size when viewed in QuickTime Player? Compressor 3.5 gives all QuickTime movies a Clean aperture by default (previous versions of Compressor set the aperture to None). This means that, although the actual frame size of the movie hasn’t changed, when playing back, QuickTime scales and crops the movie to account for the non-square pixel aspect ratio of various video formats such as DV.
