Meet the Sony NEX-FS100U Super 35mm Motion Picture Camcorder -the newest member of Sony’s NXCAM line of camcorders designed and developed specifically for professionals in the motion picture industry. Utilizing an Exmor Super35 CMOS Sensor that’s almost twice the size of a Micro 4/3 sensor, this new model delivers extraordinary picture quality, low light sensitivity and a shallow depth of field similar to that of a film camera. Stunning images illustrate the Full HD Slow & Quick motion. With the ability to create rich “Bokeh” effects (beautifully defocused image) that are intrinsic to creative storytelling, this camcorder is destined to become the artistic choice of videographers.
The camcorder’s E-mount interchangeable lens system lets users enjoy a level of creative freedom unimaginable with camcorders of the past and most HDSLR cameras. A key innovation of the E-mount system is its unusually shallow flange focal distance, which permits virtually any 35mm lenses to be mounted via third-party adaptors. A very large selection of Sony A-mount lenses can also be mounted and electronically controlled via the LA-EA1 mount adaptor. The lens included with the kit model features Optical SteadyShot image stabilization*, which allows users to take extremely steady handheld shots of a moving subject without the need for a bulky stabilization rig, and the built-in GPS feature makes it easy to tag locations.
*The NEX-FS100UK lens kit model includes the E18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS zoom Lens, which gives users Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and auto focus.
The NEX-FS100U uses AVCHD recording and shoots with a maximum frame rate of 1920×1080/60p (28Mbps). Providing the ultimate flexibility, it records to compatible Memory Stick Pro Duo media, SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, and can be used with the optional HXR-FMU128 flash memory unit for extended continuous recording or instant backup.
For professionals who prefer the convenience of shooting in video but love the look of film, the NEX-FS100U Super 35mm Motion Picture Camcorder offers the best of both worlds, whether shooting a low budget indie, a blockbuster feature, or any project in-between.
